Welcome to Flats Fishing Today!
What is flats fishing you ask, fishing in the flats is the most simpliest answer. Flats are found in bays and marshes and are stretches of flat sandy areas next to the deeper water of the Ocean. Flats usually consist of grass, rock, and gravel. Some flats, especially those within marshes, are composed of grass and vegetation. Usually you'll be fishing for seatrout, tarpon, permit, bluefish, striped bass or shark in the flats.
The most ideal flats will be less than eight feet deep. At this depth there should be a large variety of different fish species. When fishing for bass, flats with shallow sand ditches are the best.
